Affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, the college offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate programmes in arts, commerce, management, and science. Recognised under the Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, it holds a distinguished status in higher education. Sunbeam Women's College Varuna has consistently demonstrated academic excellence. Notable achievements include:

  • Bhagwandas Smriti Gold Medal: Ms. Sagar Singh received this prestigious honor for achieving the highest ranks in undergraduate examinations at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (session 2022–23), presented by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu in the presence of UP Governor Smt. Anandiben Patel.
  • Gold Medal in B.Com (2024): Ms. Ankita was awarded this gold medal by UP Governor Anandiben Patel.
  • University Merit List: Since its inception, 715 students have secured places in the Top 10 University Merit List.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The establishment of a Saraihna Incubation Centre, regulated by the Atal Incubation Centre – Mahamana Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, highlights the college's proactive stance in fostering a startup culture.

Institute of Innovation Council (IIC) MOE

The Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, under the aegis of the Innovation Cell. It aims to systematically promote a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup support in higher educational institutions (HEIs).

Sunbeam Women's College Varuna had established its IIC in 2023 and aims to carry out the following key Roles and functions:

Fostering Innovation Culture:
IIC encourages students, faculty, and staff to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems. It organizes activities like idea competitions, hackathons, innovation challenges, and workshops.
Promoting Entrepreneurship:
The council guides and supports students and faculty in transforming innovative ideas into viable business models. It connects aspiring entrepreneurs with mentors, investors, and incubators.
Capacity Building:
IIC conducts regular training programs, expert talks, and awareness sessions to build innovation and entrepreneurial competencies.
Establishing Ecosystem Linkages:
IIC acts as a bridge between the institution and other innovation ecosystem players like industries, research organisations, MSMEs, and startups.
Supporting Pre-Incubation & Incubation:
The council supports idea validation, prototype development, and technology transfer. It also facilitates access to incubation centers within or outside the institution.
Encouraging Student Led Innovations:
IIC provides platforms for students to showcase their ideas and receive feedback from peers and experts.
Documentation and Reporting:
IIC regularly submits progress reports and activity updates to the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell.
Participation in National Innovation Initiatives:
IIC engages actively with national campaigns like Smart India Hackathon, Toycathon, ARIIA, and National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) implementation.

The Institution's Innovation Council plays a critical role in transforming traditional educational institutions into vibrant innovation hubs. By nurturing creativity, entrepreneurial mindset, and industry-academia collaborations, IIC contributes to making students job creators rather than job seekers and supports the national mission of building an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).

National Science Day
National Science Day is celebrated on February 28 to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman. Sunbeam IIC organizes science exhibitions, talks, and student demonstrations on this day to promote scientific temper.
Student Presentation on Start-Up and Entrepreneurship
Students present their startup ideas, business models, and entrepreneurial plans before a panel of mentors and faculty. This activity builds confidence, presentation skills, and entrepreneurial mindset.
Session on Resume Writing
Expert-led sessions are conducted to help students craft compelling resumes. Topics cover formatting, highlighting achievements, ATS optimization, and tailoring resumes for specific roles.
Motivational Session by Successful Entrepreneurs
Successful entrepreneurs are invited to share their journeys, challenges, and lessons with students. These sessions inspire a startup mindset and motivate students to pursue their innovative ideas.
National Entrepreneurs Day
Celebrated on November 15, National Entrepreneurs Day is observed to honor the spirit of entrepreneurship. IIC organizes events, panel discussions, and student startup showcases to mark this occasion.
